The Sheilah A. Doyle (SAD) Foundation partnered with Comfort Zone Camp in 2010 to provide children, whose parent, legal guardian, or sibling fell victim to murder, a place and a community to grow and meet other’s who experienced similar tragedies. Our goal is to help children feel that they are not alone in their grief journey.

The 2012 Illinois Comfort Zone Camp will be held September 7th through September 9th at Camp Manitoqua (www.manitoqua.org) in Frankfort, IL.

Comfort Zone Camp Staff will contact you via email to confirm your registration status. Once registered, a Comfort Zone Camp team member will be in touch to continue the application and acceptance process, including a telephone interview regarding your child's loss history.  If your family is in need of a paper application, please call 708-885-3900, or email kristin@sadfund.org and request an application for the Chicago Camp.

The SAD Foundation is currently looking for children who would be interested in attending the Comfort Zone Camp.   The requirements are as follows:

Camper must have a parent, legal guardian, or sibling who fell victim to murder

Camper must be between the ages of 7 and 17
Camper needs to find transportation to and from camp
Comfort Zone Camp (www.comfortzonecamp.org) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 bereavement camp that transforms the lives of children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver.  The free camps include confidence building programs and age-based support groups that break the emotional isolation grief often brings.  Comfort Zone Camps are offered to children 7-17, and are held year-round in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Virginia.  Please watch the video below to get a better understanding of what happens during our 3 day weekend camp.
